Drone regulations in Nicaragua

The Nicaraguan agency responsible for drone safety, INAC, has provided several details on flying drones for fun or work. The highlights are enumerated below. For more details, go to the link above.

Are drones allowed in Nicaragua?

According to INAC, drones are generally prohibited in Nicaragua, subject to INAC permitting and regulations. Read on for details.

Here are the most important rules to know for flying a drone in Nicaragua:

INAC prohibits the operation of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in the Nicaraguan national airspace.

UAV use is prohibited above 100 feet in altitude and more than 30 meters horizontally away from the operator.

UAV operation is prohibited close to civil and military helicopters and domestic and international aviation.

Permits are required to import a UAV into the country. Otherwise, your drone will be seized, and you will be charged a storage fee.

However, according to INAC, there is no permitted use of UAVs in the country, so the chances of obtaining a permit are slim.
