General Rules
All drones must be registered before flying Maximum altitude: 121 m (400 ft) Visual line-of-sight (VLOS) must be maintained at all times Drone insurance is required for all operations No night flights permitted No flights over national parks No flights over crowds without special TCAA permission No flying within 3 km of a domestic airport or 5 km of an international airport Drones under 7 kg are exempt from the Ministry of Defense permit requirement Drones over 7 kg require a special permit from the Ministry of Defense

Pilot License (Categories 2 & 3) Private and commercial pilots must:
Be at least 21 years old Hold a recent medical certificate Be English proficient Have a radiotelephony license Have completed flight training and passed a knowledge and skills test Pay a license fee of US 00
Importing a Drone Per Civil Aviation (RPAS) Regulations 2018, a TCAA import permit is required before any drone enters Tanzania. Permits are issued only to:
Tanzanian citizens and residents Companies registered in Tanzania The Government of Tanzania
An import permit covers import only - operators must separately apply for authorization and registration after import.
Foreign Visitors
Only drones weighing 7 kg or less may be flown by non-residents Must obtain permission from the TCAA before flying Must hold a valid drone certificate issued by their country of origin Must obtain permission from the Ministry of Defense and National Service Only Tanzanian citizens and residents may own a drone in Tanzania
